“Noticing the days hurrying by…” 

 

One of the first jazz pieces I ever learned and my first foray into the world of scatting, if I remember correctly. This song is so carefree, and to me, it represents a time when things seemed simpler–that stage of blissful ignorance when I thought I knew everything there was to know. (Amazing how the development of the prefrontal cortex changes all that…) As Taylor Swift once mused, “How can a person know everything at 18 and nothing at 22?” (Or, in my case, 30…)
